We will go over your responses in class. Due Monday, 10/24/11

A musician is walking home alone late one night and is startled when a dog in a yard to his left barks unexpectedly. Respond to each of the following regarding the musician's ability to hear the bark.
* Trace the path that the sound waves travel as they enter the ear and proceed to the receptor cells for hearing.
* Trace the path that the neural impulses created by the bark travel from the receptor cells to the brain.
* Using two theories of pitch perception, explain how the brain might process the pitch of the dog's bark.
* Explain how the musician would know that the bark originated to his left even without seeing the dog.

AP Psych Biological Assignments

Below are the assignments for the chapter:

* Neural Messages (click here) Use the Psych Sim 4 link to the right to complete. - Due Wednesday, Sept. 21
* Brain Region Chart (click here)- Due: Friday, Sept. 23
* Nervous Endocrine Chart (click here)- Due: Friday, Sept. 23
* Print and read "The Strange Tale of Phineas Gage" (click here). Your task will be to observe them through next Friday, September 9th. You will be responsible for writing a paper about their personality characteristics, based solely on your observations, inferences and conclusions. You are not allowed to talk to this person, let them know you are observing them, or ask anyone else about your subject. This is intended to be empirical evidence. Please keep the identity of your subject a secret until you write the paper. Do not let anyone else know who you are observing.

This paper should NOT be a simple listing of what the person wore and did but conclusions about your stranger based on the observations you have made. For example, if a student's notebook and folders are all adorn with Harry Potter pictures, we might guess they are a fan of the books and/or movies.

The primary purpose of the paper is to watch the person and then develop some conclusions about the person based on your observations. Again, do not simply list observations. It may be helpful to keep a small notebook of observations.

The paper should be 1-1½ pages, double spaced.

Due: Tuesday, September 13th

Assignment 2: Psychology's Timeline
Print and complete the Psychology's Timeline Handout (click here) using the Psych Sim 5 Tutorial (link found to the right of this post under "useful AP Psych Websites" Due Friday, 09/02/11

Assignment 3: Descriptive Statistics
Print and complete the Descriptive Statistics Handout (click here) using the Psych Sim 5 Tutorial (link found to the right of this post under "useful AP Psych Websites" Due Wednesday, 09/07/11

Assignment 4: Free Response Practice
Please answer the following question, as best as you can, using the information in your resources.
